About Indira Priyadarshini College of Law

The College, located in Yelahanka New Town, was established during the academic year 1994–95 under the aegis of Pragathi Vidya Samsthe®. The institution was founded with the vision of imparting quality legal education, promoting legal awareness, and empowering individuals through knowledge of law.

The College was affiliated with Bangalore University from 1994 to 2008 and is presently affiliated with Karnataka State Law University (KSLU), Hubballi. It is also recognized by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. The institution has been offering the Three-Year LL.B. Course since its inception in 1994.

The College is governed by a duly constituted Governing Council of Pragathi Vidya Samsthe®. The Council comprises distinguished academicians, legal luminaries, management experts, and eminent public servants. It meets regularly four times a year to review and guide the academic and administrative activities of the institution.

Admission Requirements

Students seeking admission to the First Year LL.B. Course must submit the following documents:

  • Original Marks Cards of SSLC/10th, PUC/12th/10+2, and Degree examinations, along with two sets of photocopies.
  • Convocation/Degree Certificate.
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the previous institution.
  • Migration Certificate (for students from outside Karnataka).
  • Four passport-size photographs.

Reservation Policy

Reservations for SC/ST and Other Backward Classes shall be provided in accordance with the prevailing Government regulations and directives.

Eligibility for Promotion to Higher Classes (3-Year LL.B.)

To seek admission or promotion to the next higher semester, students must have paid the examination fees for all previous semesters.

Students appearing for any semester examination for the first time must pay:

  • Tuition fees for the class.
  • Examination fees for both semesters.

Failure to pay examination fees for any semester will result in automatic cancellation of admission to that class. The student must then seek readmission by paying the prescribed tuition fee again along with the required examination fees. Students will, however, be permitted to appear for supplementary examinations.

Eligibility Criteria for the 3-Year LL.B. Course

  • Students must successfully complete the course within 3+1 years from the date of admission.
  • A total carry-over system from Semester I to Semester VI is permissible, subject to payment of examination fees.
  • Students discontinuing the course are required to pay the prescribed tuition fees for all three years.
  • Payment of examination fees after every semester is mandatory.
  • No student shall be promoted to the next higher class without passing the semester examination of the lower class, as prescribed by the regulations.

Scholarships

Government Scholarships

Scholarships offered by the Government of India and Government of Karnataka are available to eligible students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.

Scholarships under Pragathi Vidya Samsthe®

  • Former President Late Smt. Venkatarajamma R Endowment Award for securing the highest marks in the final year examination.
  • Students admitted to the 3-Year LL.B. Course with 90% or above in the qualifying examination are awarded a cash prize of ₹25,000.
  • Students securing First Rank in University Examinations are awarded a cash prize of ₹10,000 by the SET.
  • Students securing 95% or above in the First Year LL.B. Course are fully exempted from paying Second and Third Year admission fees.
